I can get that chug and ching a chunk with it, were the backline was like BOOM!! The backline does have thicker lows than the SVT but the SVT in my opinion has more versatility.

My guitarist likes it a lot, and the guy I bought the GK from likes it a lot also. The SVT gives me the ability to hit the tones I love and I can get real close to those AIC, and Soundgarden tones with it. I guess this is more of a personal taste thing. I have tried these backlines through other cabs and configs and I am never getting the bite I want. Once again the GK's had the lows and the Ampegs had the mid range punch. #Gallien krueger backline 350 series
I played around with and MB combo tonight comparing it to an Ampeg BA series combo, and my guitar player liked the Ampeg combo a lot more, I thought they were a toss up. Now I love GK's other stuff a lot like the RB series and the MB's are really great. Boomy but like the other guy said the note definition isn't something to write home about. One thing I don't like from a distance in a club a backline sounds like a one trick pony. I have heard other guys complain about this with the backlines. I would cut through but with some horrible over boomy bellowing type tone. The low mids were at 11 o clock and the lows were at 3 o clock. Also with the backline I had to put the boost at 12' o'clock and the master to 3 or 4 o clock, to get it to cut through and that was with the treble, and high mids all the way up. I get more out of that with the SVT-350 than I did with my back line. Sometimes it depends on the styles of music you like to play.įor metal, grunge, and nu-metal (I play a lot of grunge, think Mike Starr AIC facelift, Screaming Trees, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden and stuff), so I like some mid bite and crunch. The SVT gives me a raunchier cut through in the mids and treble that I love to use a lot. Its like a big hollow low end and I could not stand the treble, and high mids that it produced. I tried other backline heads through other cabs and I didn't care for it.
